Dr. Basham attended UCSB prior to graduating from the University of the Pacific Dental School in 1972.  He began his dental practice in Santa Barbara in 1974 and is a member of the American and California Dental Associations and the Santa Barbara-Ventura Dental Society.  He has served on the Dental Society Board of Directors, Peer Review Committee, Emergency Referral Committee, and Preventive Dentistry Committee.

He is active in community affairs, currently serving as the District Chairman for the Los Padres Council of the Boy Scouts of America, a young men's leader in his church and is Past President of the Kiwanis Club of Santa Barbara.    

Dr. Basham has been married 36 years to his wife, Julie,  and is the father of five children.
